Ben M., G.G., GIA, C.G., AGS, C.G.A., AGS
Position:Appraiser, Sales Consultant, Retired Manager
Hi, my name is Ben Murphy and I have had the honor of working for Sartor Hamann Jewelers for 51 years. I first came on board in 1968 when the only Sartor Hamann store was at 1129 "O" Street in Lincoln. In 1972 Don Hamann sent me to open the company's first remote location in the Gateway Mall, which I managed for 2 years. Then in 1974, we opened another location in the Conestoga Mall in Grand Island and I moved there to manage that store for the next 36 years.
I love the small-town feel of Grand Island and because I have lived here for so long, it seems like I know just about everyone! I truly enjoy working with Sartor Haman's customers, hearing their stories and helping them choose the perfect piece of jewelry to celebrate their special occasions.
I have earned the certifications of Graduate Gemologist from the GIA and Certified Gemologist and Certified Gemologist Appraiser from the American Gem Society. Because I have worked with diamonds and colored gemstones for so many years, I have many areas of expertise.
I have been semi-retired since 2010 which gives me time to become more involved in the Grand Island community. I am on the Board of the Central Nebraska Shrine Club and very involved with the Nebraska State Fair. I love playing golf, woodworking and finishing any "Honey Do's" that are on my list for the day!
Please let me know if I can help you with your fine jewelry purchases. I look forward to meeting you and hearing your story!
