Chris Eiland, Shop Manager

Position:
Goldsmith, Bench Jeweler and DesignerI've always been interested in art and design. Drawing and taking black and white pictures are hobbies I've always enjoyed. I attended one of the oldest jewelry colleges in the Unites States, Gem City College. The school is located in Quincy, IL right along the Mississippi River. In April 1990, I walked into Sartor Hamann right after I graduated from college and Don Hamann hired me that day. I've been at Sartor Hamann ever since.
In the beginning, I would hand-carve pieces out of wax and cast them in gold and platinum. Today, our shop at Sartor Hamann has CADD programming and CNC machining to make the design process more precise. The shop is able to show customers the rendering of what their piece will look like before it is made. This enables us to make changes before casting the pieces in the desired metal. I enjoy working with customers creating pieces for their special occasions, as well as redesigning family heirlooms.
When I'm not working, I enjoy tailgating for Husker football games and spending time with my family. I look forward to having the opportunity to work with you to design your next piece of fine jewelry!
