Dan and I met through mutual friends and had been friends for years prior to dating. Dan proposed to me in July of 2018 on a boat on Lake Andrusia in Minnesota. Dan's family has been going to Lake Andrusia in Bemidji, Minnesota for over 5 generations and it is a very special place to his family. We were actually taking a road trip to Duluth to see one of our favorite bands (Trampled by Turtles) when Dan casually suggested we stop for a day in Bemidji on our way north. He rented a pontoon boat from where we stay with his family on vacation and we began 'fishing' on the lake. I was at least just being told to watch the water depth while Dan was messing with his toolbox. Little did I know, the gorgeous diamond ring that he custom-created with Sartor Hamann had been hiding in there all along. Dan turned around and proposed on one knee in the middle of the lake and I was completely surprised and shocked. After my initial shock and exclamation of yes, I wanted it on my finger as fast as possible so it wouldn't fall into the lake! We enjoyed that time together calling family and friends, and taking a few photos of the time we spent there enjoying being on the water at a place where his family has been to for so many years.
Sartor Hamann has been amazing to work with. They helped Dan create my custom dream ring of a horizontal marquise diamond on a gold, knife-edge band. I have always loved vintage jewelry, and to me this ring is the epitome of something classic and timeless with also a very unique touch. Sartor Hamann staff is always so friendly and helpful anytime I stop in. It was wonderful purchasing our wedding bands as they always make the process seamless.
